  • The exhaust gives off fuel smell.
  • Low fuel economy and constant refuelling.
  • Poor engine performance.
  • Blackened spark plugs.
  • Spark plugs that are wet with fuel.
  • Restrictions in return line.

Is my carb rich or lean?

Q: How Do You Tell if a Carburetor Is Rich or Lean? A: One way to tell for sure is by “reading” the spark plugs. If the plug tip is white, the mixture is lean. If it’s brown or black, it’s rich.

What do you think of the Holley carburetor book?

The book is mostly written for Holley carburetors but the introduction and first few chapters explain how carb work and methods used to make a carburetors work that is applicable to all carbs. I think this introduction is very valuable. I haven’t finished the book yet. So far, I am thrilled to have learned what I have.

What should the fuel pressure be on a Holley snowblower?

Recommended fuel pressure should be set at 7-1/2 psi maximum, 5 psi minimum. Fuel pressures above 7-1/2 psi can create severe fuel control problems and are not recommended. Fuel lines should be a minimum of 3/8”. A Non-restrictive open-element air cleaner kit is recommended (Holley P/N 120-102).

What do I need to get started with a Holley jet?

Before you get started, I recommend that you buy a new set of spark plugs (or two) a Holley Jet Assortment kit, a set of reusable bowl gaskets (so you don’t have to replace gaskets every time you change jets) and once it’s baselined, an accelerator pump cam assortment and a few power valves in various sizes will come in handy!
