What is Wood Badge Ticket?

The Wood Badge “ticket” represents each Participant’s self-directed commitment to complete a set of personal goals relating to that individual’s Scouting position. These goals will significantly strengthen the program in which the Participant is involved.

What is Wood Badge training?

Wood Badge is a Scouting leadership programme and the related award for adult leaders in the programmes of Scout associations throughout the world. Wood Badge courses aim to make Scouters better leaders by teaching advanced leadership skills, and by creating a bond and commitment to the Scout movement.

What happens at Wood Badge?

Wood Badge is a six-day course, conducted over two weekends. Topics include Managing Conflict, Communicating, Listening to Learn, Valuing People and Leveraging Diversity, Stages of Team Development, team and individual leadership, Coaching and Mentoring, Project Planning and much, much more.

What are the Wood Badge animals?

These patrols are given the names of the following “critters”:

  • Beaver.
  • Bobwhite.
  • Eagle.
  • Fox.
  • Owl.
  • Bear.
  • Buffalo.
  • Antelope.

Who can attend Wood Badge?

Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. Scouters from Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, and district and council Scouters all are welcome and belong here.

What is the purpose of a Wood Badge ticket?

The purpose of a Wood Badge Ticket is to help you realize your personal vision of your role in Scouting. Ideally, you will write your ticket around your primary job in Scouting.

How should I answer the questions on the Wood Badge?

Answer the questions as fully and honestly as you can. Write down your answers and bring them to the Wood Badge course. You will find them to be a helpful reference Don’t worry about what the “right” answers are or about satisfying someone else’s idea of how you should respond. No one except you will see what you write.

What makes a Good Boy Scout ticket item?

At least one goal must address increasing diversity within the Boy Scouts of America. All ticket items should be S M A R T. The preceding acronym may be used by you and your Troop Guide or Ticket Counselor to evaluate a good workable ticket item.
