What is Taro mupirocin ointment used for?

It is applied topically (to the skin) to treat skin infections such as impetigo, caused by certain bacteria. It may also be used to prevent infections from developing in scrapes and minor cuts and injuries. It works by killing the bacteria that cause the skin infection.

Can I use mupirocin ointment on an open wound?

Do not use it on skin areas that have cuts, scrapes, or burns. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away with water.

How long does mupirocin take to work?

You should notice your skin starting to get better within a few days. If you haven’t noticed any improvement after 4-5 days, check with your doctor for further advice. If after ten days your symptoms have not gone, talk to your doctor about this too. You may be asked to use an antiseptic wash as part of your treatment.

What is mupirocin 2 percent used for?

Mupirocin Ointment is used for skin infections, e.g. impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis. Posology: Adults (including elderly) and Paediatric population: Mupirocin Ointment should be applied to the affected area up to three times a day for up to 10 days.

  • Apply approximately 1/2 of the ointment from the single-use tube directly from the tube into one nostril.
  • Close your nostrils by pressing the sides of the nose together and then releasing them.
  • Throw away the tube after each use.
  • How is mupirocin ointment supplied?
