What is Heptafluoropropane used for?

By Matthew Perez

1,1,1,2,3,3,3-Heptafluoropropane, also called heptafluoropropane, HFC-227ea (ISO name), HFC-227 or FM200, as well as apaflurane (INN), is a colourless, odourless gaseous halocarbon commonly used as a gaseous fire suppression agent.

Which is better HCFC or HFC?

The key difference between HCFC and HFC is that HCFC contains chlorine and can cause harm to the ozone layer, whereas HFC is free of chlorine and does not harm the ozone layer. HFC is a good replacement for these gases, mainly in refrigerators.

Is tetrafluoroethane a CFC?

Looks like a CFC! In fact it is a hydrofluorocarbon, an HFC.

Is HFC 227 is same as FM200?

Our Clean Agent Fire Protection Systems feature the non-ozone depleting clean agent HFC-227ea, trademarked by DuPont as FM-200™, providing our customers with the fire protection they need and still protecting the earth’s precious ozone layer.

Is HFC-134a same as R134a?

R134A or HFC-134A became the accepted standard, because it has no potential of ozone depletion and has similar (but not equal to) cooling abilities to the R-12 and R-22 refrigerants. Computer air has fewer lubricants in it than the conventional R134A.

Is R134a a HFC?

R134a was the first chlorine free (ODP = 0) HFC refrigerant that was tested comprehensively. It is now used world-wide in many refrigeration and air conditioning units with good results. As well as being used as a pure substance, R134a is also applied as a component of a variety of blends.

Is HFC-134a soluble in water?

IDENTIFICATION: 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) is a colorless gas. It is moderately soluble in water. 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane has estimated 20-, 100- and 500-year Global Warming Potentials of 3300-4845, 1300-1896 and 420-589, respectively. USE: HFC-134a is an important commercial chemical.

Is HFC134A registered in the US?

IDENTIFICATION AND USE: 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) is a colorless gas with a faint odor. It is not registered for current pesticide use in the U.S., but approved pesticide uses may change periodically and so federal, state and local authorities must be consulted for currently approved uses.

How much HFC-227ea clean agent do I need to fill the valves?

Each of the basic sizes can be filled with one pound increments to meet the exact amount of HFC-227ea Clean Agent required, within their fill ranges. *add -”SS” if valve is Stainless Steel Temperature Range: 32°F (0° C) to 130°F (54.4°C) System Operating Pressure: 360 psi at 70°F (25.3kgƒ / cm2 at 21.1°C)

What are the quality controls for HFA 227 and 134A?

Production of both HFA 227 and 134a adheres to the stringent good manufacturing practice guidelines and continuously updated quality standards. We carry out routine quality controls at levels of less than 1 ppm for more than 60 impurities in line with CPMP/FDA guidelines.
