By Eleanor Gray

A minimum of a high school diploma is often a requirement to become a miner. Some companies may prefer a bachelor’s degree or related coursework when hiring. You can pursue a degree in miner engineering or take coursework in mining safety, strategy and regulation.

What do you have to do to become a miner?

To become a miner you usually have to complete a traineeship. Entry requirements may vary, but employers generally require Year 10. You can also become a miner through a VET qualification. As subjects and prerequisites can vary between institutions, you should contact your chosen institution for further information.

How many years do you have to go to college to be a miner?

Courses are offered especially at colleges located in mining regions. You can earn a certificate in mine studies in 1 year or an associate’s degree in 2 years. As you gain a few years of work experience you can be promoted to better-paid positions.

Is being a miner a good job?

Working in coal mines is dangerous — miners have to deal with toxic gases, plus the threat of being crushed, drowned, or injured from fires and explosions. Some miners love it. It can be a family tradition, it’s exciting, and the pay is usually pretty good.

How are miners paid?

2 As compensation for their efforts, miners are awarded bitcoin whenever they add a new block of transactions to the blockchain. The amount of new bitcoin released with each mined block is called the “block reward.” The block reward is halved every 210,000 blocks (or roughly every 4 years).

Who pays miners in blockchain?

So far, the vast majority of miners’ earnings comes from the 50 BTC per block rewards, with a tiny fraction coming from the transaction fees paid by the people creating transactions. So to answer your question, nobody pays the vast majority of the cost; it is created out of thin air as the reward for mining a block.
