Is Ryukyu Kempo effective?

Though it outwardly resembles the martial endeavor practiced by so many in the world today, Ryukyu kempo is a powerful and effective self-defense system, that uses familiar karate movements in surprising and devastating ways.

Is Kempo Chinese or Japanese?

Kenpō (Japanese: 拳法) is the name of several Japanese martial arts. The word kenpō is a Japanese translation of the Chinese word “quánfǎ”. This term is often informally transliterated as “kempo”, as a result of applying Traditional Hepburn romanization, but failing to use a macron to indicate the long vowel.

Where did Kenpo originate?

Kenpo is a Japanese unarmed fighting art that was brought from China to Japan about 700 years ago by the Yoshida Clan and was quickly adopted by the Komatsu Clan. The word Kenpo means literally, “Fist Law,” and also refers to its Chinese origin.

Kempo means “The Way of the Fist”, while Jujitsu means “Gentle art” or “Gentle Way” but if the situation calls for it Jujitsu can be anything but gentle and can be quite brutal in its application.In short it’s a combination of arts all rolled into one seamless fighting system.
