Is Haegarda the same as Berinert?

Haegarda and Berinert are both brand-name drugs. There are currently no generic or biosimilar forms of either drug.

What is the difference between angioedema and hereditary angioedema?

Allergic angioedema is skin reaction commonly associated with urticara (hives). Hereditary angioedema is a potentially life-threatening disorder caused by a genetic defect. The term “edema” means swelling. Hereditary angioedema causes painful episodes of swelling, typically in the face, hands, feet, or genitals.

What is esterase inhibitor used for?

C1 esterase inhibitor is used to treat or prevent hereditary angioedema (HAE). HAE is a rare disease that causes swelling of the face, hands, feet, throat, stomach, bowels, or genitals. People who have HAE have low levels of C1 esterase inhibitor in their body.

Is HAEGARDA approved in EU?

Haegarda® and Berinert® 2000/3000 (CSL Behring) were approved (US and EU) was approved by the FDA in 2017 as the first subcutaneous C1 inhibitor concentrate, also indicated for self-administration, at the dose of 60 IU/kg twice weekly.

How is Cinryze administered?
