When Thorin and his right hand men run up the hill to take out what they assume is the last of the orc army, they fall right into a trap. Almost instantly, the gruesome devils drop Kili’s brother Fili from a high ledge, killing him immediately. Kili takes longer, but the bastards find him.

Does Fili die in the book?

So, for those who haven’t read the book, here’s what Tolkien wrote about the death of Fili and Kili: Fili and Kili had fallen defending him with shield and body, for he was their mother’s elder brother. Not too detailed, but it is clear that they died in battle protecting Thorin.

While Azog was in Moria, King Thrór decided to lead a force of Dwarves and retake the mines. Azog led legions of Orcs against the Dwarves on the Azanulbizar plain and engaged their leaders. He took on Thrór in a duel and after a short fight he beheaded the King.

What happened to Náin and Azog?

At some point he had a son named Bolg. In the following years, Azog was the common enemy of all dwarves, and the war he started had its climax in the Battle of Azanulbizar, where he killed Náin, only to be himself slain by Náin’s son Dáin, who would later become King of Durin’s Folk.
