How do I become a DofE supervisor?

Who can be an assessor for Duke of Edinburgh Award?

An Assessor can be anyone who is interested in helping you to achieve, has some knowledge of the activity you are doing and can be available over the time you’re doing it. They will produce or sign off the relevant Assessor’s report for that section, which is uploaded into eDofE.

What evidence is needed for DofE?

You need to upload evidence that you have completed each of your Physical, Skill and Volunteering Sections (school will do this for the Expedition) to eDofE and SUBMIT each of your Sections as complete. You should have followed two of these Sections for at least 3 months and the other for 6 months.

Can you go straight to gold D of E?

Once you are 16 you can do your Gold DofE programme. If you’ve jumped straight into your Gold DofE programme you’ll need to do a further six months either Volunteering or in whichever one of your Physical or Skills activities you spent more time on.

    What evidence do I need to show I have completed a Section? The minimum is a complete Assessor’s Report. This can be handwritten on the form in your Welcome Pack (by your Assessor) and uploaded as a photo, or the Assessor can enter it directly into

    How do I upload DofE evidence?

    Select ‘Add photo or file evidence’ – click ‘Upload’ and you’ll have the option to attach a document, take a photo using the camera or choose a photo from the gallery. When you’ve added your evidence, you’ll have the option to rename or delete it, select it as an Assessor’s Report and unsubmit/submit it.

    Can you backdate D of E?

    Once the DofE gives their approval you will be informed of the successful completion of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Now await your DofE certificate, badge and details of the ‘Achievement Pack’. The system allows you to backdate one section per Award for up to 3 months.

    How far do you walk on D of E?

    Get out and about: Walk at least 30 km to support young people through their DofE. You can cover your 30km in a week or set your own time frame (whatever challenges you!). We suggest that you walk at least 30km but feel free to walk, run, cycle or swim the distance!

    Cooking as a skill for DofE. For this section you need to demonstrate a wide range of different skills in cookery by producing at least one dish a week. You will need to include the recipes and photographs of the product as evidence and also bring in samples for your assessor to taste!

    Can you skip Silver DofE and go straight to Gold? You can complete the Gold DofE award without having completed Silver, however it will take longer (it doesn’t make a difference if you’ve completed Bronze).

    Can you fail DofE?

    You cannot fail a DofE Expedition. However at the end of a practice expedition we occasionally have to recommend that some groups undertake further training and practice to ensure that they are fully prepared to safely undertake an unaccompanied qualifying expedition.
