Are managers happy?

A recent Pew Research Center survey compares the happiness levels of managers versus non-managerial employees and finds bosses are more satisfied with their lives. (Unsurprisingly, bosses were also happier with their financial situation, with 40 percent being very satisfied compared to 28 percent of non-managers.)

Why do we need bosses?

The boss is often the person who knows least about the running of a workplace. The only function of the bosses is to own and control our workplaces, and to maximise their profits they must employ a whole hierarchy of managers and supervisors who cajole or bully people into working longer and harder.

Should a manager care if employees are happy?

It probably comes as no surprise to learn that people work better if they’re happy, but according to a new survey over three quarters (79 percent) of workers believe their boss doesn’t care whether or not they are happy at work, even if being happier helps improve their performance.
