Are all 7 string guitars baritone?

Most seven strings are Extended Range Guitars, not Baritones, because most are tuned to standard (EADGBE) with the seventh string tuned to a B below the low E. There are longer-scale seven strings (this generally results in a better-sounding low B string), of course, but they’re generally not referred to as Baritones.

What is an 8 string guitar used for?

Eight-string guitars are less common than six- and seven-string guitars, but they are used by a few classical, jazz, and metal guitarists. The eight-string guitar allows a wider tonal range, or non-standard tunings (such as major-thirds tuning), or both.

A baritone guitar is simply a guitar with longer strings and a larger body so that it can be tuned to play in a lower sounding register. The relationship between the strings remains exactly like standard tuning, so you play all the same shapes for your chords and scales, but they sound at a different pitch.

Can you learn guitar on a 8 string?

If you’re learning to play an 8 string guitar, the low F# (or Gb) string may throw you off a bit, but it shouldn’t take very long to get used to the positions on that string. On an 8 string guitar you can play the same exercise, just remember it’s one string higher from the low F# string.
